Flinn Scientific, IncIt is not an exaggeration when I say I could use this website daily. The resources are great and extremely well put together. The actives are laid out in such a way that novice teachers can easily put together demonstrations that leave the students amazed. The safety information provided along with the instructions is second to none.
NGSS Lesson PlansWhile Alaska schools have not adopted the Next Generation Science Standards they still align closely with the standards required for teachers in the state of Alaska. The lesson plans offered for free from NGSS Lesson Plans are comprehensive and require little modification. If is get stuck on how to present a subject it is great to be able to visit a website that is built around inclusive and variable lesson strategies.
SocrativeSocrative is a fun interactive way to administer formative assessments. The students have fun competing against one another as well as enjoy being able to use their cell phones in class. The best aspect however is the sheer formative power behind the website. The students answers are saved and mistakes are easy to keep track of. This allows me the teacher to easily see where the students need a little extra help. It is great to have a small competition before a test to see where I need to help my students.

The link below however is connected directly to my favorite section of the website. The videos regarding the field of education are extremely motivating. The speakers always make a strong argument and it is almost impossible not to get motivated.
Science DailyScience Daily is just what the name implies. It is a great website that is updated with the most resent findings that can pique a students curiosity. The shear variety of information offered is great. Students can find an article that suits them best and run with it. I plan to use this website in a variety of self lead presentation opportunities where students find an area of biology they find most interesting and leading a presentation in the field they become an expert in.
Alaska Native Knowledge NetworkAlaska Native Knowledge Network is an indispensable resource for me. The information presented in the website is dated, but never the less it is still great. The website chronicle the funds of knowledge that are present in all the communities here in Alaska. All this information is a vital resource that all we need to do is learn how to use. I find this website to be one of the key to unlocking all that hidden information.
Discovery Education is a great website with a huge diversity of interesting subjects that can grab a students attention. The page that is linked in the button below directly connects students with a host of research opportunities for self guided study. The videos are are both interesting and informative.

Khan AcademyKhan Academy is a great way of incorporating some light flipped classroom aspects that are easy for both teacher and student to follow. While it does require a student log in there is no requirement for payment and no commitment required from any party. The activities offered are extremely informative and repeatable. For a flipped setting there are no mistakes, just learning.
Bill Nye the Science GuyBill! Bill! Bill! Bill Nye is one of the leading names in a high school student knows in science because his show was so easy to connect with. The demos that were on the show were easy to perform and connected to many different areas in the science field ranging from biology to physics. While his website is difficult to navigate the information present is great. The link below connects you to a variety of home demos offered on the website. They include great reasoning and background information in the field of biology.
Biology Games and SimulationsBiology Games are a great way to keep a student engaged in a subject. There are a variety of games that are actually quite fun and in each case they actually make a strong connection to each subject that can be taught in biology. Working on evolution play a game about Peppered Moths. Developing an understanding of the food web, play a game on lizard island. Though these games are not going to win IGN top ten that are both fun and educational.
